🍔 Classic Cheeseburger Recipe

🧾 Ingredients

For the patties:

  • 1 ½ pounds (680g) ground beef (80/20 fat ratio is ideal)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

For assembling:

  • 4 hamburger buns (preferably brioche or sesame seed)
  • 4 slices American cheese (or cheddar)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickle slices
  • Onion slices (raw or grilled, optional)
  • Ketchup, mustard, and/or mayonnaise

🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Patties

  • In a large bowl, mix ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce (if using).
  • Gently form into 4 equal patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb — this helps prevent the burger from puffing up while cooking.

2. Toast the Buns

  • Heat a skillet or grill over medium heat.
  • Spread butter on the insides of the buns.
  • Toast the buns cut-side down until golden brown (about 1–2 minutes). Set aside.

3. Cook the Patties

  • Increase heat to medium-high. Place patties in a hot skillet or grill.
  • Cook 3–4 minutes on the first side, without moving them.
  • Flip the burgers and add a slice of cheese to each patty.
  • Cook another 2–3 minutes for medium doneness. (Adjust timing for rare or well-done.)
  • Remove and rest patties for 2 minutes.

4. Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom bun, layer in this order:

  1. Lettuce
  2. Tomato slice
  3. Cheeseburger patty
  4. Pickles and onions (if using)
  5. Your favorite condiments
  6. Top bun

✅ Tips for the Best Cheeseburger:

  • Don’t overwork the beef when forming patties — this keeps them tender.
  • Use high-quality cheese for better melt and flavor.
  • Sear on high heat to get a great crust on the outside of the patty.
  • Customize freely with bacon, sautéed mushrooms, jalapeños, or even a fried egg.
